| Innovative research underpinning conservation and restoration of our unique Western Australian flora. The Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority vision is: 'To create and provide world recognised facilites and services to inspire the conservation of biodiversity’, and the mission is: ‘To conserve and enhance Kings Park, Bold Park and the State’s Botanic Garden for the community’. Kings Park and Botanic Garden is internationally acknowledged in plant conservation science, undertaking integrated research focussed on practical outcomes in native plant biology, rare plant conservation and bushland restoration. Successful conservation outcomes are achieved through world-class research and strategic alliances with industry, land managers, the community and other research organizations. The Science team has a long history of successful post-graduate student supervision in collaboration with all of WA’s universities, demonstrated by a high conversion of graduating students into relevant jobs. Research at Kings Park and Botanic Garden is focussed within the key areas of restoration ecology, conservation genetics, conservation biotechnology, seed biology and orchid conservation. |
